Reese’s personality is absolutely EXPLODING with all things new – I swear, there’s something EVERY day that I could share. I need to keep a constant notebook beside me and jot things down because she constantly keeps us laughing!
For instance, Nona has told Reese, “I love you to the moon” and I’ve picked up saying it and on Wednesday, this is how our conversation goes:
Mommy: “Reese, I love you to the moon!”
Reese: “Mommy, I love you…(pause)…to the ground!”
Mommy: “to the ground??”
Reese: “(laughs)…yeah, to the ground!”
After her nap on Wednesday, I’m in the living room and hear her over the baby monitor stirring around in her bed and hear, “mommy, come get me!” and I don’t jump up right away and hear again, “mommy, come get me!” I quickly finish what I’m doing and head to her room, but just before I step into her bedroom I hear, “JOBEFF, come get me out of my bed!”
She is REPEATING everything, and when I say EVERYTHING, I mean it…I’m not proud of everything she has repeated but, alas, it does make for some good laughs!
*We were at Sara Gale’s house playing on Tuesday when the power went out and the microwave cooking the hotdogs stopped and Kristin said, “Crap, the hotdogs aren’t done.” Reese proceeded across living room saying, “Crap!” Thankfully, she hasn’t said it again!
*I playfully told Clay to “shut up” one day and Reese didn’t say it right away but a few days later she shouted from across the house, “SHUT UP!”. She did get quickly told that is NOT something we say and I apologized for saying it. A couple weeks later, I’m taking her to Pappaw and Nona’s house before work and in the backseat I hear her saying, “shutup, shutup, shutup, shutup”…I stopped that REAL quick and told her not to say that. She continued, threatened a spanking and she quickly stopped. She hasn’t said it since….let’s hope that stays out of ALL of our vocabulary around our house!
Reese’s favorite songs/nursery rhymes as of late of some of Mother Goose’s that she’s learned from Barney and some books at Nona’s house.
My personal favorite to hear Reese say is:
“Peter, peter pumpkin eater, how does your garden grow?”
Seems she’s confusing two, huh? Of course, Amazing Grace is still on the agenda for bedtimes and Jesus Loves Me is sung all day long. Along with random "Happy Birthday to...anybody"
The last few days “Old King Cole” has been shooting out of her mouth. The beginning you can understand REALLY well, through the middle is pretty hard to understand – but it is SO cute!
I've got some pictures I need to upload and edit and blog. Maybe while I'm laying around after my surgery I can get it together and catch you up on all things going on.
I'll leave you with a picture from Nona's today:
Can you say rotten?!
