Reese, 21 months and 26 days

I didn’t do a 15, 18 or 21 month post – like I told myself I would. I know her TWO YEAR OLD post will be here before I know it, but I felt I needed to catch you all up to speed as to what’s going on with Reese. I’m sure between now and April, there will be much more to post about, as she learns new things every day! :)

Here’s a post dedicated to my Reesey-cup – the light of our lives :)

*Reese, you are now around 22 lbs (as of your last doctor appt for an ear infection in January).
*You are still wearing mostly 18 month clothes, but do have several 24 months that fit fine after your mommy or daddy washes them.
*As for your shoe size, you’ve been at a size 5 for a couple months now. It’s a good thing because I was hoping the shoes I bought in November would last you all winter. It looks like they will!
*Now, your hair, your hair…where do I start? I can still get a little bow to stay up top but it’s not growing very fast. You have a mullet-style going on in the back of your hair and your Poppy taught you to point to it when you hear the word “mullet”. And you just LAUGH!
*Your TWO year old molars popped in out of no where and didn’t seem to give you much of a fit. (Am I really going to have a TWO year old in TWO months? Unbelieveable!)
*You STILL do NOT sleep through the night. Once in a while, you’ll surprise us and sleep through MOST of the night and sometimes, if we’re lucky, you’ll sleep through the WHOLE night. When you wake up, we usually hear you asking for ‘mommy’ and/or ‘daddy’ over the baby monitor and whoever is on night duty, will go rock you back to sleep. I think you just like to know you’re not missing out on anything going on. Reese, rest assured, we are SLEEPING and enjoying it. You usually ask for your milk, I think it’s your security. Some nights, you don’t want to be layed back down in your crib, so you either end up in mommy and daddy’s bed or on the couch with one of us. You’re much too big and too much of a mover to try and sleep in the recliner anymore.
*Speaking of milk, you don’t like plain, white milk – you will only let chocolate milk pass through those little lips of yours. Ovaltine is your favorite and the doctor says that’s okay because it has all the vitamins that you need.
*Eating has been an issue with you too – some days are good days, others are not-so-good. You just can’t decide whether you like to eat or not. You eat like a CHAMP at your Mimi’s house but everywhere else you eat like a little birdie, picking through all your food. I’ve tried to find a favorite food of yours, but can’t seem too. I would venture to say that KETCHUP is your favorite and would just about dip anything in it and it seems to taste much better that way. Whatever works, right? If you see waffles being dipped in Ketchup in some pictures when you’re older, just know that your mommy was just trying to fill your little belly :)
*Eating at your little table in the living room is now among one of your favorite things to do. You seem to eat better when eating there. (And yes, I realize I may be creating a monster, by letting her sit in front of the TV, but to each their own.)
*Your vocabulary amazes me EVERY single day. You’re brilliant and I know several people who would agree with me. It would take me days to write down all the words you know and I think it’s so cute when you TRY and repeat everything mommy and daddy say.
*Counting has been something we’ve been working on and it’s still a work in progress. Right now, your favorite numbers to say are, “1, 2, 3, 6, 9” and I love to hear you count!
*You have the prettiest singing voice and you cock your head to the side when you sing. I love to hear you try and sing “Jesus Loves Me” and “Old McDonald” with your favorite part being “E-I-E-I-O” which usually comes out sounding like “E-E-EEEEEE-E-I-OOOOOO”.
*Your little memory amazes me every day the things that you can remember. For instance, I was putting away clothes in your closet and you found your flower girl dress and shoes from Aunt Carlee’s wedding and immediately started asking for “Cah-yee” (carlee) and “Jee” (Jared). It was so darn sweet!
*Your little personality turns a 180 when you come in contact with a situation or people you’re not familiar with. We want so bad to assure those people (such as the mailman, UPS, nursery workers, or just passer-bys) that you really do have a personality and you smile and talk ALL the time. I think you are just trying to figure those new people out to make sure they’re okay! :)
*Yo Gabba Gabba has captured your attention and is your all-time favorite show (for now!). It most of the time overrules BARNEY! It’s entertaining but kind of strange – anything to make you happy though, babygirl!
*Your best friend is Sara Gale and you ask for her all the time, you even try to use your phone to talk to her.
*You amaze me how you remember peoples names and can associate their family members to them when you see them. For instance, if we mention Mrs. Hollie or Mr. Matt, you always ask about Kate-Kate. And if Sara Gale is mentioned, you always spout off the names of Ben, Kristin, No-No, and Anna. What sweet friends you have! I sure do hope you all grow up to be great friends like their mommy’s and I.

….I’m sure there is so much more that is blog-worthy, but that’ll come with another post.

*Reesey-cup, you are the center of our world and we couldn’t ask for a sweeter baby girl. We are so thankful the Lord has blessed us with you and allowed us to be your mommy and daddy. We love you SO big!
