River Run 2009

Yep, I finished the River Run. Jobeth, who had a baby 11 months ago, still hasn't lost the baby weight, and not trained AT ALL for this race, I finished! I only had ONE New Year's Goal and that was to do the River Run. I seriously am so proud of myself because if you know me, this is totally out of my comfort zone - I'm not a runner, at all. In fact, I hate to run, I feel like I've got too much fat to run (wait, maybe that's why I should run). I am, by no means, putting myself on a 'high horse' or feeling 'holier than thou' but I am proud of myself for finishing when I had all the odds against me, except my family and friends who cheered me on!

Papa, Granny, Emma, Jared, Carlee, and Thomas came out to support us. And my BIGGEST fans, my sweet Clay and Reese came to cheer me on. They stood at the bottom of the Hart Bridge (almost at the finish line) to give us those last words of encouragement to get to the END! And boy, did I need it then. I was SURE feeling it!

I had NO idea how long it would take me (keep in mind, the most I've EVER ran before Saturday was a 5K, so a 15K was unimaginable)...I was thinking 3 - 3.5 hours. But, I finished right under 2.5 hours - so proud!

Here are a few snapshots of the day:

Mrs. Vicki, Jonathan, and Hollie somehow managed to stay out of the pictures (or maybe they were coming into the finish line with masses of people and Carlee couldn't find them..)

Moma finishing strong!

Mike and Laurie coming in together :)

Still with a smile on my face...wow! And you can see Moma running up behind me, she stepped off the sidelines and ran with me to the finish :)

Hollie looks gorgeous and there are no words for what I look like - maybe that I just ran over 9 miles? Hm.

Proud of everyone that I'm connected to, friends and family, who finished the race on Saturday. Awesome awesome job guys and gals!
